Whoda Thunk It?

I check my mail regularly (about every 10 days or so) and I was happy, but not surprised, to see I got the new issue of Runners World! Yay! I felt like a 14 year old girl getting the newest issue of Seventeen magazine. I flipped through the pages on my way home (don’t worry, I was walking, not driving) then jumped on my couch a read a few articles before making dinner. This article has a large section dedicated to finding the perfect running shoe. Something I’m still interested in. I’ve had several different brands, a few of which I bought because of looks when I didn’t know any better. The last pair I bought was a pair of Mizuno Wave Precision 11.

I love them. And we all know the ol’ saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I have always wanted to venture out and try a pair of Asics or Brooks as I have heard nothing but positive things. But I’m scared. I’m scared that they will not work for me. I know my Mizunos work for me, why try something else? I was pondering this life altering choice while texting a friend. Remember yesterday when I said that I’m the woman if you need a problem solved? I never fail myself. I will be buying a new pair of Mizunos, more than likely, today. I will buy a pair of Asics or Brooks with my tax refund. I know. I’m a genius. 😉

Speaking of needing a new pair of shoooz.. I went to bed early, because I’m old, so I could get up early, because I’m old. I can’t just run on 5 hours of sleep like I wish I could so I aimed for about 7. I woke up this morning to get a good run in. My momma didn’t raise no fool, so I checked the weather so I could dress appropriately. It was 64* outside. Its February 2nd and it was 64* outside. Uh-maze-ing. That’s higher than our average high for this time of year. Nothing special needed to do my thang. I probably could have used some help getting dressed because it was so early. It took me three tries to get my bra on correctly. Wait, are my ta-tas supposed to hang out like this?!  I downed a banana and drank a glass of water then headed out.

I ran 6.8 miles in 59:25 which averages out to 8:44 min/mi. Know what? I’ve never been that fast. I feel like a hippo when I run. Sometimes the size and sometimes the speed and sometimes both. Not that I actually know how fast a hippo runs… Maybe all that cross training I’ve been doing for the past month and a half is actually doing something for me. Whoda thunk it?
